You’ll learn how to pick out your first skein of yarn and grab the appropriate size needles. (Hint: I know there’s hundreds of different kinds out there, but don’t stress.)

Then you’ll need to get stitches on your needle (aka casting on), learn the knit stitch, and then the purl stitch. Practice these two stitches until you’ve got them down – everything you will knit will be a variation of these two stitches.

If you’re looking for easy patterns, try a striped tie, a bow tie, or (a bit more advanced) a basketweave cozy.
